About Spalding Education International
Spalding Education International (SEI) is a nonprofit, tax exempt 501(c)(3) corporation. It was established in 1986 by Romalda B. Spalding as a resource for Spalding materials, to perpetuate her Method of
teaching language arts, and to maintain the principles and procedures
which make The Spalding Method so effective. Spalding Education International is accredited by the International Multisensory Structured Language
Education Council (IMSLEC) for its literacy instructional programs for
teachers and Spalding teacher trainers.
SEI organizes Spalding courses through contracts with schools, districts,
colleges and universities, and parent groups. SEI also publishes a quarterly newsletter
The
Spalding News, which provides instructional tips and reports on current research and SEI events.
The success of The Spalding Method has, unfortunately, caused
a number of imitators to purport to teach The Method or a simplified
version of it. Although these entities might be using Spalding copyrighted
materials including the textbook The Writing Road to Reading, they
are not authorized by Spalding Education International to offer
courses or materials based on The Spalding Method.
Spalding Education International (SEI) was founded by Romalda Spalding,
the author of The Writing Road to Reading, to preserve the integrity and
the effectiveness of her Method. SEI accomplishes this through a
rigorous training process culminating in Authorized Spalding Tutors, Spalding Certified Teachers and Spalding Certified Teacher Instructors.
SEI cannot guarantee the course content or quality of instruction
provided by others. To confirm that a course or workshop is authentic
Spalding, we recommend calling the SEI office at 623-434-1204.
