Reading Foundations Course

Learn to implement the foundations of THE SPALDING METHOD® in your classroom. You will skillfully teach your students the structure of the language, how to become successful readers and writers, and enable them to expand their vocabulary.

The curriculum is structured, sequential, and cumulative.
The methodology is explicit, interactive, diagnostic, multi-sensory, and integrated.

Effective Strategies for Writing and Reading Course

Onsite, Zoom

Expand your knowledge of THE SPALDING METHOD® and implement higher-level strategies from the method in your classroom.

The course covers phonemic awareness, systematic phonics, vocabulary, word analysis, sentence construction, and text structure. It also introduces a specific methodology for teaching composition, text comprehension, and literary appreciation.

Coach Training Course

Hybrid

Become a Spalding Coach. Learn to successfully coach teachers who are implementing and refining THE SPALDING METHOD® procedures.

Part 1 – Online training with approximately 85 minutes of videos plus assignments. This self-paced portion of the course must be completed within a three-week time period. Failure to complete all coursework will forfeit onsite observation dates.

Part 2 – Two onsite coaching days (approximately two months apart) with a Spalding Executive Trainer at the participant’s school.

Up to three participants can register for one course. Each course includes two coaching days at one school site. Registration cost for the first participant including travel fees up to a 75-mile radius from the Spalding office: $1000 Registration cost for each additional participant (up to two): $200 Please Note: The onsite coaching dates will be held at the initial participant’s school. Out-of-State Cost: Request quote from coursesupport@spalding.org Space is limited.

Online Home Educator Course for Parents

Online

A comprehensive guide for parents. Learn at your own pace and when it suits your schedule. Implement the foundations of THE SPALDING METHOD® in your education plan.

We selected each topic carefully for its effectiveness on your overall knowledge of THE SPALDING METHOD®.

You will learn the 70 most common phonograms using a multi-sensory approach, our unique Marking System to help your children analyze high-frequency spelling words, and our spelling procedures to effectively teach how to spell and read.

Watch the five video units (10 hours in total) before introducing the method to your children. You will skillfully teach them the structure of the language, how to become successful readers and writers, and enable them to expand their vocabulary.
